 Thorkildsen Participates in Qatar Athletics Super Grand-Prix

Several athletics stars are going through a tough preparation process to meet the high level grand prix in Doha during May 2007. Norway‘s Olympic champion Andreas Thorkildsen plans to prove his abilities in the javelin events. He seems determined to retain his title (90.13m) which he achieved in the previous version of the internationally categorized grand prix. Thorkildsen recently gained excellent results, like (first rank: 91.59m) in the Oslo Exonmobile event, and won the title of the Roma Golden Gala (90.34) as well as winning the Stockholm Galan (89.78m). He also ranked first in Europe Championship (88.78m) and world Championship in Stuttgart (89.50m).
The present version of Qatar Athletics Super Grand Prix will witness a hard competition among the participating champions (Lithuanian’s Fadimis Vasilviski –world 3rd rank- Czech’s Yan Serovatco-world 4th rank, as well as the Russian Serbrizdo Sergey-world 9th rank, and competitors from Germany, Finland, and Norway) in confrontation with Andreas Thorkildsen.
It is worth notice that Andreas Thorkildsen seized the gold medal in the javelin events during Athens Olympic Games 2004, the silver medal in the World Championships 2005-Helsinki, and the silver medal in the Europe Championship in Sweden.
Andreas Thorkildsen was born on 1st of April, 1982, in Norway. He still retains the youth world record in javelin when he claimed the gold medal in European Summer Games 1994. His father was also a javelin thrower and his best record is (71.64) in 1974, while his mother is a Norwegian national athlete in the 100m event in 1972. Andreas Thorkildsen began his practice of the javelin throw since he was 11 years old and his father became his coach till 1999. his first medal was a silver medal that he seized in Norway Championship in 2000. In October 2000, he participated in the World Youth Championship and seized a silver medal, and after one year he moved to the capital city Oslo to start his achievements tally.
