Qatar Athletic Team Participated
in the Asian Indoor Championships
held in Pattaya, Thailand
from 10 – 12 February,
2006. The team achieved
four different medals.
Our international athlete
Saif Saeed Shaheen started
the achievement of our team
in 3000m and broke two records
Championship record and
the Asian Record in this
event. Albadri Salam Amer
and his team partner Adam
Abdu Adam Achieved Gold
and Silver in 800m. At the
end, Daham Najm Bashair
won the Gold in 1500m.
Gold
in 3000m:
Saif Shaheen ran a good
race in 3000m and started
the race at good speed.
Players from Bahrain, Adam
and Tareq Taher did their
best to reach with, but
the support from his team
mate Nasser Shams Kareem
who ran as a pace maker
for Saif.
In this competition broke
the Previous Indoor Championships
record achieved by Mohamed
Sulaiman in 1985 in Stockholm
(7.49.00). Shaheed broke
the record with 7.39.77
which as well was a new
Asian Record.
The previous Asian record
was held by Bahrain Athlete
Salem Johar (8.11.90) achieved
in an Indoor Championships
in Iran
.Gold
and Silver in 800m:
Albadri
Salam and Adam Abdu won
gold an silver respectively
in this event. There was
good competition from Indian
athlete Ram, but Albadri
and Adam in the last few
meters of the Race beat
the Indian to win the Gold
and Silver, and the Indian
taking the Bronze.
Gold
in 1500m:
Daham Najm Bashair achieved
gold in 1500m, (3.44.04)
and he broke the Asian Record
registered by his team mate
Thamer Kamal Ali (3.50.91).
Salem Bakhet from Bahrain
won silver (3.46.29) and
Indian athlete Partham Panda
won the Bronze (3.47.23)
