  Qatar Athletics Results in Asian Indoor Games, Macau-2007
  • Five Qatari athletes participated in this event and achieved 3 gold medals and one bronze medal. Qatari athletes recorded five new recorded in indoor events and one new Qatari record.

  • Almanai, Samuel, and Charles seized gold medals and new records while Abubaker seized bronze.
    Women athletes are still at the beginning on the competitive scene.

The Qatari results that were achieved during the Asian Indoor Games Macau 2007, 26/10/-3/11/2007 appeared excellent and reflected much of Qatar’s athletics powers.   

1.      Rashid Almanai managed to seize a gold medal in the high jump event 2:24m. This is a new record  for Qatari history in the indoor games. He surprised all by his challenging sprit and self-confidence.  

2.     Samuel Francis seized the gold medal in the 60m event recording 6:54s and achieving a new Asian record in the indoor games to Qatar. He proved this result thrice while ding the repetition laps and such results considered new for indoor athletics though he is new to this experience.

 

3.     Charles Bit could also seize a gold medal in the Macau indoor games in the 3000m event with a result of (8:04:69( and achieving a new Asian record in the indoor games. The silver medal was gained by India’s Singa Sernidra (8:04:99).

4.     Abubaker Ali Kamal seized a bronze medal in the 1500m event (3:50:78), while the gold medal went to India’s Jatuli Hamza (3:50:22) and the silver medal went to Kuwait’s Omar Al-Rashid (3:50:58).

5.     Amin Salim is a young promising athlete who could be ranked 10th among competitors in the shot-put event recording (16:69) which is a good result in comparison to his age.

Qatari Women Team

Qatari women athletes participated for the first time in the indoor games with the aspiration to gain more experience. The team included:

·        Sheikha Saqar Al-Dosari: She managed to be ranked 7th in the preliminaries of (60m) event recording (8:45s)

·        Amina Aljahni:   She managed to be ranked 7th in the preliminaries of (60m) event recording (8:74s) .

·        Amina Aljahni:   She managed to be ranked 8th in the preliminaries of (long jump) event recording (8:17m) .

·        Sheikha Ali and Mouza Ali: Both participated in the high jump event but could not overcome the 1,35m height which is the start height of the competition.
