Ahmed Deeb Brings Qatar a Silver Medal

Qatari athletes participated in various athletics events during Arab Games in Egypt. In the Half Marathon event Aman Majed and Ahmed Juma participated while Ahmed Moosa participated in the Decathlon event. The Triple Jump event witnessed the participation of Qatar’s Ibrahim Babeker and Mohamed Hamdi.  

In the Discus Throw event, Qatar’s Deeb could seize the silver medal (57.76) while Saudi Arabi’s Sultan Mubarek calimed Gold (57.83) and the bronze medal went to Egypt’s Yaser Fathi (57.74).

The 10000m event witnessed a Qatari achievement when Sultan Zaman claimed the silver medal despite the early expectations by experts that he was nominated for the gold medal. The fifth rank was also occupied by Qatar when Ahmed Hassan Abdullah reached fifth.

Alwaleed Abdullah and Arif Ibrahim could not claim medals in the 100m event where they ranked 4th and 5th consecutively. The gold medal of this event was seized by Egypt (10.38s), the silver medal by Saudi Arabia, and the bronze medal by Jordon. On the other hand, the pole jump event brought no medals to Qatar when Abdullh Ghanim failed to seize the bronze medal and ranked forth (4.80m). the bronze medal, however, was seized by Algeria’s Khayari. In the 110m hr, Qatar’s Iesa Aldhawadi could not mange to end the race despite the expectations that he could seize a medal.

In women long jump events, Qatar;s Mouza Mohamed ranked 6th while in the shot-put event Jalila Khamis ranked 6th and Fatima Almalik ranked 7th. Finally, in the 100m event Sheikha Saqar could not achieve a high ranking result.
