The
International
Association of Athletics Federations has
nominated Mr. Khalid Almeer (Vice President of
QAAF, Vice President of Arab Athletics
Association, and President of Technical
Committee in Arab Athletics Association) to be a
member in the IAAF Championships Committee due
to his featured experience in managing
international championships in Qatar. This event
marks a new record to Qatari athletics
leadership and adds much to its international
reputation.
It is worth notice that Mr. Almeer is the director of the Qatar Super Grand Prix 1997-2008, the athletics competitions in the West Asian Games-2005, and the athletics competitions in the Asian Games-Doha 2006.
The nomination came as a result of Qatar’s remarkable reputation in organizing athletics international championships. Such reputation also granted Qatar the honor of hosting IAAF Indoor Championships 2010, when IAAF announced Qatar as a host country during IAAF meetings in Monaco on 24 November 2007.
The competitions committee in IAAF, in which Almeer became a member, is responsible for setting the strategy of IAAF competitions and their dates. It is also in charge of supervising these competitions and evaluating them technically and administratively as well as sending reports on them to IAAF. Again, this is considered however a Qatari achievement by Qatari athletics leaders.
