Kenya Dominates the Teams Ranking Order and
Bekely Occupies the Top of Individual Ranks
Qatar
national
athletics team seized the bronze medal of the
36th World Cross-Country Championships organized
in Scotland. The total points gained by Qatar’s
team reached (144ps), while Qatar’s athlete Flex
ranked 6th (35:15) among other athletes
representing countries from all over the world
who competed to cross the 12km distance of the
race. The Qatari athletes proved their
excellence as usual and their results came as
follow: Ahmed Hassan was ranked 6th (35:18),
Sultan Zaman was ranked 22nd (36:12), Mubarek
Shami was ranked 25th (36:17), Jamal Bilal was
ranked 34th (36:43), and Eisa Ismael was ranked
49th (37:07).
Kenya Dominates the
Cross-Country
The Kenyan team dominated the 1st rank among the
participating teams where it could gain (39ps),
Ethiopia was ranked 2nd (104ps), while Qatar
seized the 3rd rank (144ps). Eritrea gained
(164ps) ranking it in the 4th position, while
the Moroccan team could rank 5th (197ps), the
Ugandan team was ranked 6th (211ps), USA team
gained (301ps), Spain (353ps), Australia
(400ps), and Algeria (425ps).
Bekely Topping
Individually
Ethiopia’s Bekley occupied the top rank among
competitors for the sixth time in his athletics
carrier. His result was (34:38), while Kenya’s
Patrick came 2nd (34:41), and Eritrea’s Tadisi
was ranked 3rd (34:43).

Al-Hamad, QAAF President, commented on Qatar’s
bronze medal in this international cross-country
event and expressed his hope that this win will
lead to further victories especially in the
coming Olympic Games in Beijing. He emphasized
that this achievement has technical and
performance implications assuring that Qatar
athletics will seize better results in the
future. Al-Hamad congratulated the winners and
confirmed that this achievement was seized due
to preplanning and long-term technical
preparations for such a big event where
international athletics stars compete.
