Doha / May 10 -2008 The great and
unprecedented technically and administratively
success was
outstanding
by Qatar Super Grand Prix-2008, which was held
in Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium last Friday where
international athletics stars participated. It
did not come out of vacuum, it came rather due
to the great efforts exerted by the working
committees, led by HE Dahlan Al-Hamad, QAAF
President and Chairman of the High Organizing
Committee, who was keen to lead the committee in
its work in the Sheraton Hotel constantly to
identify every nook and cranny to check on all
committees and reception after the world stars
began coming to Doha, as the state of emergency
was declared between the two committees;
transportation and public relations which
represented the backbone of the work at this
stage. Everyone has worked with professionalism
to have the outcome of the championship as
perfectly as possible, and to reflect the true
weight of Doha on the world map in the sports
organizational fields (one of the capital of
sports in the world).
Technically and Organizationally
The
edition of 2008 Qatar Super Grand Prix recorded
a great and impressive success and effectiveness
both at the organizational level and
professional level. At the organizational level,
HE Dahlan Al-Hamad and his team marked the
registration of a patent system for new sports
organization formula through the foreseen
creative teamwork, the philosophy they depended
on, and the essence of careful selection of the
best elements of the event. The technical level
could be easily touched through the hail of the
spectators and fans who watched the world stars
with a sense of admiration. The remarkable
success of this sporting event undoubtedly came
because of the unlimited care and support
provided by His Highness the Amir and His
Highness the Heir Apparent of the State of
Qatar. This is why Qatar Super Grand Prix
appealed to the IAAF and recorded a high
prestige level among other counterparts in the
European continent.
Qatar Super Grand Prix: Polarization Hub
Qatar
Super Grand Prix involves a higher importance to
the world athletes in terms of excellence being
one of the most important stations where large
numbers of the best-classified top athletes
participate as it comes at the beginning of the
sports-season, which forms a good opportunity to
prepare for the rest of the championships. This
year it bore more importance where it came at an
exciting time in Doha prior to the biggest
sporting event, Beijing Olympic Games.
Therefore, athletes did not hesitate to come and
participate in the championship. Moreover,
there is no doubt that a major difference in the
tenth version came into reality where it
succeeded by all means, as many champions
expressed, world champions who came to Doha not
just to participate and win medals but to
prepare for the big event in the Beijing
Olympics, which encouraged many of them to
participate in the championship. The Qatar Super
Grand Prix is the first Grand Prix this season
and champions willingly participated to start
the season with hopes and aspirations.
The Continuity of Hosting Qatar Super grand Prix
HE Dahlan Al-Hamad, QAAF President and Head of the High Organizing Committee, described the continuation of hosting one of the biggest world events in Doha is accredited to IAAF. Besides, it is a great honor to Qatar to embrace the major sporting events, and this is expected from QAAF, which acquired the ability and skill and high efficiency of the organization and success of such events.
The Remarkably Successful Qatar Super Grand Prix
It
is not a kind of exaggeration if we say that the
Qatar Super Grand Prix-2008 was held to be
successful, especially when Qatar entered the
circle of challenge against the European
continent where the event witnessed the exit for
the first time outside its borders. The early
success is undoubtedly due to the high patronage
of Qatari wise leadership, and the continuity of
this success is due to the loyal men who have
assumed the task of leading this global assembly
depending on the wide range of Qatari
organizational capabilities and leadership
experiences. Moreover, the presence of the elite
champions of the world succeeded in enriching
the event significantly. The estimate for the
moral and material support to these stars echoed
their great love to Doha and turned eagerly to
participate in the featured Super Grand
Prix-2008.

Felix: The Top of Elite Sprinters
From
a technical prospective for the events of the
Qatar Super Grand Prix-2008, one can say it was
a mixture of joy, happiness, horror and pain,
where some stars did shine in the spotlight and
perhaps the American Allison Felix was the most
shining star in the Super Grand Prix with gold
medals in the 100m and 400m events. She imposed
herself on the setting of events repeating the
dreams of her golden achievement in the previous
world championships in 2004 and the silver medal
in the Athens Olympic Games in the 200m and
wining the first rank in the fourth round of the
Grand Prix last season. This confirms that this
runner will have a great Olympic show in
Beijing-2008.
The Promising
Athlete of the Coming Olympic Games
The American athlete David Oliver, who achieved
a new timely result and the best in this season
in addition to being the best seventh timing in
the history of 110m hurdles, confirmed to be a
shining star in the future and is expected to
achieve a good result during his participation
in the Beijing Olympic Games.
Warm
Appreciations to Security Staff
The efforts exerted by security men are highly
appreciated. They have succeeded in achieving
disciplinary access and exit. Security affairs
staff have assisted in making this international
sporting event a great success through guiding
the entry and access gates as well as having the
guest seated.
The Absence of
Ethiopian Athletes
Ethiopians athletes did not participate in the
Super Grand Prix. HE Dahlan Al-Hamad, QAAF
President and Chairman of the Organizing
Committee, confirmed that the committee
implemented all the necessary procedures like
bookings and purchase of tickets. “ We looked
for their participation in this international
event, but the matter seems to be out our
control and the diplomatic relations played a
role in this absence because the Ethiopian
authorities did not allow athletes to
participate.”, QAAF president added. HE Dahlan
Al-Hamad criticized this attitude by the
Ethiopian diplomats to prevent their six
athletes from participation. He said that sports
must be separated from politics and the
organizing committee will prepare a report on
this matter and submit it to the IAAF. HE Al-Hamad
wished not mix politics with sports because
sports bring peoples all together.
