Doha, Mrs. Mariam Al-Esihaq, director of girls training center at Qatar athletics Federation, confirmed that a training camp for Qatari women athletics team is going on during 25 Januaray-10 February 2009 in preparation for the international tournaments and championships like the GCC Youth Athletics Championship, which will be held in Doha during 5 -6 April 2009. The training camp will be organized in Le Park Hotel and athletes will receive their trainings in Khalifa International Stadium, under the supervision of a professional team of trainers and administrators.

The Qatari women athletics team includes (16) athletes participating in all disciplines (sprint, jump, and throwing). The training camp involved some cultural activities like delivering a lecture entitled (Strategies of Sports Excellence, and the Art of Dealing with Media) by the international lecturer Mr. Abdulaziz Alasiri and Mr. Salah Al-Haj (journalist in Al-Saharq Newspaper) on Thursday, January 29, 2009. It is expected that Qatari women athletes will seize a number of medals in this championship.
