The organizing committee of the 2nd GCC athletics tournament for youth (women) held its first meeting on 17 February 2009 at 7:00 PM, in the QAAF headquarters. The following members of the organizing committee attended the meeting:

Abdullah Ahmad Al-Zaini, QAAF President and the
President of the Organizing Committee welcomed
the attendees. He stressed on the importance of
efforts exerted for the success of this
tournament and praised the efforts made by Mrs.
Ahlam Al-Mana that she spent to win the hosting
of this tournament. The agenda of the meeting
then was discussed where Mrs. Al-Mana, the
director of the tournament, explained the
administrative arrangements and technical
actions that have been implemented in
preparation to host this evnt. She expressed
that various invitations were sent to the
participating countries, which in addition to
Qatar include Bahrain - Kuwait - UAE - Oman. She
noted that these countries were invited to
participate and they received the participation
forms, the initial and final prices of
hotels/residence with a deadline for receipt of
entries on 20 March 2009. Then the heads of
committees introduced summaries of the functions
of their committees and raised some enquires
regarding the organizational aspects of the
tournament.
Finally, Mr. Al-Zaini requested the heads of the
committees to submit the names of the members of
their committees and their needs to be discussed
at the next meeting, to be held on Tuesday 24
March 2009.
