The results which were achieved by Qatar’s athletes in athletics events during the 15th Asian Games surpassed other results gained by other Qatari athletes in all other games. Qatar’s athletics succeeded to achieve 8 medals; including: 3 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze. The gold medals were seized by:
1- Daham Najim Bashir (1500m)
2- James Qulya (5000m)
3- Mubarek Hassan Shami (Marathon)
The athletes who gained the silver medals are:
1- Khalid Habash Alsweidi (Shot-Put)
2- Rashid Shafi Aldosarri (Discus)
3- Issa Ismael Rashid (10000m)
4- Jamal Bilal Salem (3000m Steeplechase)
The bronze medal was achieved by:
1- Saultan Khamis Zaman (5000m)
These medals which were
seized by Qatari athletics
stars during the 15th Asian
Games- Doha 2006 represent
quarter of the total number
of medals achieved by all
Qatari men and women
athletes in various games,
i.e., the 32 medals.
Moreover, the three gold
medals achieved in athletics
competitions represent one
third of the total number of
gold medals gained by all
Qatari athletes (9 gold
medals) in all games. The
same percentage is also
applicable to Qatari silver
medals tally which reached
12, whereas the bronze medal
percentage represents 9%
when compared to the total
number gained by Qatari
athletes in games altogether
which reached 11 bronze
medals.
Therefore, in accordance
with these figures, it is
clear that Qatari athletics
brought Qatar a number of
medals that surpass other
games in which Qatar
participated.
