DOHA –
The
2007 edition of the Qatar Super Grand Prix held
at Suhaim Bin Hamad stadium will once again be
remembered for various reasons. The high profile
of athletes coming from across the globe and
their superb show in the pleasant weather of
Doha has charged the local people to watch more
such events in future. More than 3000 people including children and ladies watched the world’s top cream of athletes in action which was organized in a magnificent manner.
Qatar Amateur Athletic Association deserves kudos for bringing such a large galaxy of athletes to Doha.
Doha Grand Prix will also be memorable for Bahrain’s Rugaya Al Gassra who won bronze medal with timings of 11.29 sec and came third after photo finish result.
The school children of Doha for the first time got the opportunity to run in the presence of world class athletes and thousand of fans will give tremendous boost to them to do well in sports.
The superb performance of Vlasic Blanka of Croatia in High Jump will be remembered when she broke the meet record on this turf.
Darrel Brown of Trinidad and Tobago was able to give a fine performance in 100 metres when he finished with 10.13 seconds and was able to conquer the likes of Michale Frater and Shawn Crawford. Allyson Felix won double gold and she pushed aside Lauryn Wliiams and Brooks of Jamaica to win 100 metres.
