The
International
Association of Athletics Federation announced
through its official website that 204 national
athletics federations will participate in the
11th World Athletics Championship that shall be
hosted by Osaka city in Japan during 25 August –
2 September 2007. QAAF has already sent its approval to participate in this international event. It is expected that Qatar’s champion Saif Shaheen will head the Qatari participating athletes who will take part in this championship for which 7 USD millions were allocated as prizes. It is considered as the 3rd big important sports event after the Olympic Games and the World Football Cup.
According to the official website of the International Association of Athletics Federations, the first rank winners in men and women events will receive 60, 000 USD, the second rank winners seize 30,000 USD, the third rank winners receive 20,000 USD, the fourth rank winners get 15,000 USD, the fifth rank winners receive 10,000 USD, the sixth rank winners receive 6000 USD, the seventh rank winners get 5000 USD, the eighth rank winners receive 4000 USD. On the other hand, the wining prizes for teams will be as: 80,000 USD for the first rank winner team, 40,000 USD for the second rank winner team, 20,000 USD for the third rank winner team, 16,000 USD for the fourth rank winner team, 12,000 USD for the fifth rank winner team, 8,000 USD for the sixth rank winner team, 6,000 USD for the seventh rank winner team, and 4,000 USD for the eighth rank winner team.
