Qatar’s
athletics star Daham Najim Bashir managed to get
ranked 9th at the end of the 3000m steeplechase
race in the THALES FBK-Games- Hengelo
(Nederland), held on May 26, 2007. Bashir crossed the event distance in (8:32.29) with only a half minute difference from the 1st rank winner Kipsiele Koech Paul of Kenya (8:01.05), while Kenya’s Wesley Kiprotich seized the 2nd rank in (8:16.88) and Morocco’s Abdelkader Hachlaf came 3rd consuming (8:17.03).
The victory gained through the 8th rank achievement in this event guaranteed Qatar’s Daham Najm Bashir 1 point during his first race during the current sports season.
On the other hand, Qatar’s Ahmed Hassan Abdullah could not manage to achieve good results in the 10,000m event where he occupied the 15th rank (27:33.87), while Qatar’s Iesa Ismael Rashid withdrew before the event starts. The 1st rank in this event was occupied by the Ethiopian Sileshi Sihine (26:48.73), and the 2nd rank was occupied by Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge (26:49.02), followed by his local Moses Mosop cwho consumed (26:49.55) to finish the race.
It is worth mentioning that Qatar’s Ahmed Hassan Abdullah is specialized in the long distances events. His latest participation during the present year was on March where he joined Qatar’s team in the 35th World Cross-Country Event in Mombassa-Kenya. He claimed the bronze medal in the World Cross-Country Event during 2005.
Finally, Ethiopia’s legendry athlete Haile Gebrselassie who decided to resume participations in competitions managed to occupy the 5th rank in the THALES FBK-Games - Hengelo event, consuming (26:52.81).
