The
world
record-holder and 3000m steeplechase event
champion Saif Saeed Shahin of Qatar announced
that he will participate in the 46th version of
the Golden Spike in Ostrava city (Czech), on 27
June 2007. The Ostrava event is considered as one of the primary competitions by the International Association of Athletics Federations, as the series is named (Tour). This event, indeed, reminds Shaheen with the achievements he embraced there in Ostrava, in 2003, where he was ranked first internationally.
During the 2003 version, Saif Shaheen participated in the 5000m steeplechase event where he managed to pass the international athlete Hisham Algarooge of Morocco. Shaheen’s record achieved during this event (12:48.81) is still the best and fastest in the series of Ostrava event, as it is also considered as one of the best seven records achieved in the world till now.
Along with Qatar’s Saif Saeed Shaheen, other long distance athletes will participate, like the Australian Craig Motram (the winner of the world championship’s 3000m steeplechase event two times) and Eritrea’s Zirsnai Tadis (the champion of the cross-country and roads competitions). These two athletes are the main competitors to Qatar’s Saif Saeed Shaheen during the events of the Golden Spike, Ostrava (Czech).
