    Qatari Delegation Presided by H.E. Dahlan Al-Hamad

The president of Qatar Athletics Federation will be the head of the Qatari youth team during the competitions of the 5th World Athletics Championship for Youth in Czech’s city of Ostrava, 11-15 July 2007. The delegation, departing Doha on 9/7/2007, includes: Mr. Khalid Almeer (Director) and Mr. Mohamed Taher (Administrator). The athletes who represent Qatar in this championship are: Salman Almane (High Jump), Maath Abdulrahman (2000m Steeplechase), Abu Baker Omar (800m), Gabriel Khan (10000m, Walk).  The relay team (110m, 200m, 300m, and 400m) includes: Hassan Amman, Iesa Mohamed, Saif Sabah, Mohamed Ahmed Almane, Mohamed Ziad, and Mohamed Eid Alkwari.

The Qatari participation in this championship emphasizes the vision and targets set by Qatar Athletics Federation to highly develop the athletics scene of Qatar worldwide. This championship is organized under the supervision of the International Association of Athletics Federations since 1999 where it was first organized in Poland in which Qatar won 1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal, and ranked third among participating countries. In the version of this championship, held in Hungary during 2001, the Qatari athletes managed to seize 3 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal, guarantying Qatar the 5th rank in the final ranking order. In the 3rd and 4th versions of this championship (Canada and Morocco), Qatar unfortunately could not gain any medals.
