H.E.
Dahlan Al-Hamad, President of Qatar Athletics
Association, appreciated the participation of
Qatar national team in the Ostrava international
event. He emphasized that Qatar Athletics
Association is determined to make the
participation continuous in various
international events in order to get more
preparation and experiences. In this respect,
moreover, he referred to Aspires’ role in
selecting talented athletes and supporting the
age groups in athletics fields.
He, also, referred that Qatar’s athletics keenly participated in this event since its first edition in 1999 in Poland where Qatari athletes achieved 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. The success was repeated during 2001 in Hungary, while Qatari participation continued till now challenging the international records and close competitiveness.
Commenting on the reasons behind the high competitiveness levels, H.E. Dahalan Al-Hamad said that the competition now is restricted to certain age groups unlike before where there were differences in ages among the competitors. Also, the training styles as well as nutrition programs became highly scheduled and organized. This, as a consequence, led to this rise of competition level among the champions of athletics.
Al-Hamad emphasized on the importance of Qatari participation in the world championship for men to be held in Osaka during August. This event represents an international gathering for world athletics champions. Undoubtedly, Qatari champions will leave their prints over this event, despite the absence of Qatar’s Saif Shaheen, yet other Qatari athletes will prove this print.
